Lemmy on Hendrix - "I was his roadie. I used to score acid for him. I went to see him on the tour he did the year before in Blackpool when I was living up there. How's this for a line-up: The Walker Brothers, Engelbert Humperdinck, Cat Stevens, Jimi Hendrix and some local band. That's a fucking brilliant tour, that is. When I came down here I had a friend who used to work for The Who. I asked him if I could kip on his floor and he said yes. So I went over to South Kensington where he lived. He was sharing a flat with Noel Redding and a few weeks later they needed an extra geezer for their tour. I was only an extra guy just lifting and carrying shit. But it was a great, great experience to watch Hendrix every night for fuck all. Cos he was the best, man. You'll never see anything like him, never. He broke the mould. Him and Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Clapton, all four of them, you'll never see another... you see people who can play their licks but they didn't think of them and that's the point."
