DIG!

Estava agora mesmo a passar numa rubrica de cinema da BBC World. "Dig!", filme realizado por Ondi Timoner (autora de clips dos Dandy Warhols, dos Vines, de Paul Westerberg ou de Lucinda Williams), conta a rock'n'roll tale dos The Brian Jonestown Massacre e da relação destes com os Dandy Warhols. Abomino os últimos e não conheço os primeiros, mas as imagens que vi deixaram-me de olhos arregalados. "Dig!" retratará, segundo a peça, o lado perdedor e destruidor do rock'n'roll, visivelmente representado pelos The Brian Jonestown Massacre. A pergunta que se impõe, depois de vistas as imagens e ouvidos os comentários da realizadora é: terá o filme distribuição comercial por cá?

You've probably never heard of Anton Newcombe or his band The Brian Jonestown Massacre, but 'Dig!' is the story of his musical brilliance and self-destruction.
Ondi Timoner, Director: "I went up there to meet them and they were totally off the wall. I had never met personalities like this in my life. They were too rock for rock."
Director Ondi Timoner spent 7 years trailing The Brian Jonestown Massacre and another band, The Dandy Warhols. The groups were best friends, but while The Dandy Warhols signed onto a major music label and found commercial success, Anton Newcombe, the frontman of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, began using heroin and alienating his bandmates.
