Skatalites, Romeo e uma letra

Os Skatalites fizeram a festa, tal como se esperava, ainda que bastante distantes da prestação de há cerca de dois anos, em Sines. O senhor Lloyd Brevett, contrabaixista do grupo desde a sua formação em 1964, não subiu ao palco de Algés, tendo sido substituído por um convidado no baixo eléctrico. Não terá sido por isso, talvez, mas as bombas em forma de música que os Skatalites fazem habitualmente deflagrar nos seus concertos nem sempre atingiram a potência desejada, parecendo, a espaços, meros exercícios de repetição forçada de um catálogo com quarenta anos (que não deixa, apesar disso, de ser riquíssimo).
Antes esteve Max Romeo com a sua banda. Muito roots reggae, claro, aludindo aos seus maiores hits, como "War Ina Babylon", "Iron Shirt/Chase the Devil", "One Step Forward" ou "3 Blind Mice". Foi também ao ska com o velhinho "Jamaican Ska", de Byron Lee, e coube-lhe o melhor e mais arrepiante momento da noite, quando entoou, juntamente com o público (um encontro pacífico de friques, betos de Cascais e skinheads) a letra de "Redemption Song", de Bob Marley...
