FOOTBALL MANIA AT GLASTO!
This year's GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL has started off with a bang with tens of thousands of music fans cheering on ENGLAND's football team in EURO 2004.
Because of England's success in the tournament, the group were drawn against hosts Portugal in the quarter final, which kicked off this evening at 7.45pm (June 24).
Festival organisers played the game on video screens at the side of the Pyramid Stage, and tens of thousands of fans turned up to watch the match - a crowd comparable to most headline acts who have appeared at Glastonbury over the years.
One fan at the festival told NME.COM: "The atmosphere was amazing in front of the stage, I think there's probably more people here than an at the actual game in Lisbon. My guess is 60,000 people, it was like having another headliner at the festival this year, just brilliant."
Within the first five minutes Glastonbury-goers were given a boost, when Michael Owen scored and put England in front.
However, the mood was dampened when Portugal equalised, forcing the game into extra time. The game eventually finished 2-2 in normal time, with Portugal winning the game after a penalty shoot-out.
A fan told NME.COM: "If I was anywhere else but Glastonbury I'd be too annoyed for words. As it is, I'm going to have a wander around the site and try to find some hippies to feel my pain!"
