Ainda o Scanner

Uma curiosidade:
Aqui há uns anos, o Bailarico Sofisticado foi convidado a escolher a banda sonora de uma acção no jardim botânico de Oeiras. O que era suposto durar um fim-de-semana (ou até mesmo mais), ficou-se pelo primeiro dia. Os graves de uma das últimas faixas do "lawarm/instrumentals" (1999) rebentaram com as colunas... :)

A Europa a 25 de Scanner

É mais uma notícia desta última Wire. O British Council encomendou a Robin Rimbaud (Scanner) uma peça para assinalar este recente alargamento da União Europeia a dez novos países. O resultado é "Europa 25: An Inter-National Anthem" e já pode ser descarregado a partir do site do British Council. Melhor ainda, quem quiser pode encomendar um CD gratuito com a peça.

Renowned sound artist Scanner is working with us on a project based around the European Elections and the enlargement of the European Union. "Europa 25: An Inter-National Anthem" explores the myths, realities, images and ideas around the politics of Europe from an artistic perspective. (...)

New Weird America na academia

Fosse esta a edição de Abril e ainda pensaríamos tratar-se de uma partida da revista Wire, mas não parece que seja o caso. Na página das notícias, somos informados que a free folk (ou new weird america, como também é frequentemente designada), movimento recentemente surgido por terras americanas e que junta grupos como No Neck Blues Band ou Sunburned Hand of the Man, é agora alvo de um curso na UCLA, a universidade californiana. O Juramento foi investigar e descobriu a página do professor Nathan Bush, o regente do curso, aqui.
Curiosamente, a bibliografia do curso passa por coisas como:

O olhar dos brasileiros para o rock português

Volta e meia, chegam à minha caixa de correio electrónico mensagens vindas do outro lado de Atlântico, expressando simpatia pelo rock que é feito por cá. Já a minha amiga Katia, incansável apaixonada pelo rock português, me havia contado que cada vez conhece mais fãs dos Mão Morta por São Paulo. O último contacto que recebi foi do Douglas Dickel, dos Blanched (Porto Alegre), que já teve, imaginem, uma fanzine exclusivamente dedicada à música alternativa de cá e que já andou a trocar material com os Bypass.
Resultado: cada vez mais dou a razão àqueles que defendem que a mais privilegiada das estratégias de internacionalização dos músicos portugueses é aquela que contempla os nossos amigos brasileiros. Eles estão à espreita.
